VDA List

Numerous production materials, operating materials, and process materials are used in automotive engineering. Their selection and proper use influence the quality, safety, and environmental compatibility of vehicles and components throughout their entire service life.

The “VDA List” (VDA = German Association of the Automotive Industry) for declarable substances and constituents in components and materials lists substances and substance classes that, based on current knowledge, may pose potential risks to people and the environment during the use phase as well as during recycling and disposal. Their use should therefore be avoided wherever possible.

The compilation of the VDA List is based on:

  • statutory provisions
  • environmental protection and occupational health and safety regulations for the prevention and avoidance of potential risks to people and the environment that may arise from production materials, operating materials, and process materials
  • the responsibility of the German Association of the Automotive Industry toward people and the environment in accordance with the guiding principle: “We act in an environmentally conscious manner.”

The list takes particular account of substances from which special risks may arise. These include:

  • carcinogenic substances
  • substances toxic to reproduction
  • mutagenic substances
  • sensitizing substances
  • toxic and very toxic substances
  • substances hazardous to the environment

Application of the VDA list to Norres Baggerman products

The plastic materials of the hoses manufactured by Norres Baggerman in article groups 330, 331, 332, 351, 352, 355, 356, and 357 — each in the standard version …-0000 as well as in versions …-1001, …-1103, and …-5100 — and the plastic materials of the entire CONNECT range of connection parts do not contain any substances listed in the VDA List.

In particular, the heavy metals lead, cadmium, chromium (VI), and mercury, as specified in the EU End-of-Life Vehicles Directive (2000/53/EC), are used neither in the plastics nor in the spring steel wires of the above-mentioned product groups.
